Access is Difficult
Places that may be accessed by people on wheelchairs but through a very complicated route where a member of staff may need to assist. Generally places with back entrances are listed here.

Accessible Lift

Places that have a lift provision that has a step free access. If the lift is small, but still may be useable by most wheelchair users, then a mention is present in the description.

Accessible Route from Parking

Places that have a step free route from the parking till the entrance or the lift. (Accessible parking has not been identified as this is not a concept that is prevalent in India)

Assisted Ramp Access
Places that have a ramp with a gradient steeper than 1:12 where someone may need to assist in pushing the wheelchair over it.

Independent Ramp Access

Places that have a ramp with a gradient gentler than 1:12 that a person on a wheelchair may be able to negotiate independently.

Braille Information Available
Places that may have some amount of information available in Braille. While we found only 2 places that had this, we felt it was important to acknowledge these places.

Places that are leveled (& step-free) inside. This logo is not indicative of the entrance. The entrance of this place may not be accessible.

Shower with Ambulatory Access
Includes shower areas that are either too small to accommodate a wheelchair or have step(s) at the entrance. However, these do have a shower seat provision.

Shower with Wheelchair Access
Includes shower areas that are step free, have adequate space to accommodate a wheelchair and have a shower seat.

Split Levels
Places that internally are at different levels. The split levels may include different floors without a lift connection or may also be places that may have split levels on same floor.

Step Free to/ from Road
Term used only in the Metro/ tube station listings. These are the stations that have a step free accessible route from the road. All stations that do not have this logo have a kerb on route to the accessible entrance.

Toilet with Ambulatory Access
Includes toilets that may have a step at their entrance or may be small to accommodate a wheelchair or may not have a side transfer space. However, these do have at least one horizontal grab-bar installed adjacent to the toilet seat.

Toilet with Wheelchair Access

Includes toilets that have a step free entrance, are large enough to accommodate a wheelchair, have adequate side transfer space next to the toilet seat and have at least one horizontal grab-bar installed adjacent to the toilet seat.
